Holiday Accommodation on Queensland's sunshine coast

The Sunshine Coast begins at Caloundra -- one hour's drive north of Brisbane -- and extends to Cooloola, the gateway to Fraser Island. It extends further north to the hinterland to include the Glass House Mountains, Blackall Range, Noosa Hinterland and more. There's well as over 100 kilometres of beaches stretching through the coastal towns of Caloundra, Kawana, Mooloolaba, Maroochydore, Coolum Beach, Noosa and Rainbow Beach. For families and couples, it's one of the best holiday destinations in Australia.

The Sunshine Coast's reputation for beauty precedes it - whether you are planning your inaugural trip, or are a repeat Sunshine Coaster, prepare yourself for natural splendour and any number of holiday indulgences. Taking in the cream of Australia's eastern seaboard, the Sunshine Coast region covers the coastline from Caloundra to Cooloola, and arcs inland collecting lush, undulating hinterland country and unique National Parks.

Sunshine Coast Beaches

The beaches are the jewels in the Sunshine Coast's crown. From tame foot high, family friendly waves, to pumping, powerful surf, the meeting of warm subtropical waters and pristine stretches of sand is a siren song to those seeking rejuvenation. Then there are the sheltered bays offering calm blue waters lapping against white shorelines - perfect for fledgling swimmers and watersport enthusiasts alike.

There's a huge range of beaches on the Sunshine Coast from the rolling open waters of Rainbow Beach through to the sheltered waters of the Pumicestone Passage and the white sands at King's Beach at Caloundra. Other popular beaches include Kawana Waters, Mooloolaba, Alexandra Headlands, Maroochydore, Coolum Beach, Peregian, Marcus Beach, Sunshine Beach and Noosa Heads. For sea-based adventures, cruise the Pumicestone Passage in a canoe or see the glassy tannin-filled water reflections at the Noosa Everglades. Snorkel in rock pools or take in one of the Sunshine Coast's major events including surfing and triathlon carnivals.

Sunshine Coast Hinterland

Nestled into a backdrop of lush green hills, National Parks, rainforests and swimming holes, the Sunshine Coast hinterland hosts a mix of bohemian and farming communities scattered throughout the landscape.

West of the Bruce Highway you'll find the volcanic peaks of the Glass House Mountains and the highland retreat of the Blackall Range. Montville, Maleny and other villages that perch on or behind the escarpment have restaurants, wineries, alternative-style eateries and produce stores, art galleries, boutiques and curiosity shops catering for tastes refined and earthy. Places like Buderim, Yandina and Eumundi - and, in the Noosa Hinterland, Cooroy, Pomona and Kin Kin - have made the most of their natural assets, adding markets, coffee shops, craft galleries and other drawcards to their traditional attractions.

You'll find award-winning cheeses in Kenilworth and Gympie and a series of magnificent state forests and townships of nostalgic rural charm as you travel through the Mary Valley. For an experience bordering on time travel, hop aboard the Mary Valley Rattler for a heritage rail experience.

Sunshine Coast - Things To Do

Pristine coastline and lush hinterland, superb cuisine, action and adventure or just the perfect piece of sand on which to sit and ponder? The Coast begins at Caloundra, just one hour's drive north of Brisbane and extends to Cooloola, the gateway to Fraser Island. It takes in tranquil hinterland including the Glass House Mountains, Blackall Range, Noosa Hinterland and the Mary Valley; as well as more than 100 kilometres of beaches stretching through the coastal towns of Caloundra, Kawana, Mooloolaba, Maroochydore, Coolum Beach, Noosa and Rainbow Beach. It's holiday central for both couples and families.

You can keep the kids happy fishing, visiting attractions, canoeing or wandering the markets. Rivers, sheltered bays and surf beaches provide a variety of swimming spots. The Sunshine Coast also offers gentler, more relaxing experiences, like an indulgent massage for two, a quiet rainforest walk, a round of golf or a romantic dinner in the mountains or by the sea. If recharging the batteries is your aim relax under the shade of a pandanus on the beach, wander through national parks, follow the food and wine trails, or browse in hinterland art galleries. Walks on the beach, a spot of retail therapy, or lazing by the pool with a good book are also essential Sunshine Coast Holiday experiences

There are plenty of challenges on offer for the Holiday-maker who is looking for new experiences or wanting to hone existing skills like learning to surf, tandem skydiving, hang gliding, climbing a mountain, abseiling or joining a cooking school. Soft adventurers can ride a camel or horse on Noosa's north shore, four wheel drive Teewah Beach and Cooloola National Park, join a Harley tour of the Blackall Range, dive with Manta Ray at Wolf Rock or join an estuary or deep sea fishing charter from Mooloolaba.

Eating is one of the many distinct pleasures of a Sunshine Coast holiday. The area is blessed with a unique style of cuisine featuring local produce grown in the lush hinterland and caught fresh from rivers and surrounding oceans. You can browse the famous Eumundi Market or Noosa Farmers Market for the best of what's in season; taste award winning ice-cream and cheese; buy just-picked tropical fruits from the farm gate; devour a kilo of prawns at Mooloolaba or a choice steak at a heritage hotel in Gympie; or settle down to dine in an elegant restaurant overlooking mountains, rivers or the sea.

Noosa National Park
Sunshine Coast Queensland

Noosa is the heart of Queensland's Sunshine Coast. Offering the discerning traveller a sophisticated and indulgent holiday, from alfresco dining at quality restaurants to boutique shopping, Noosa is one of Australia's premier destinations.

Many of the activities that Noosa offers surround the water. Noosa's Main Beach is a protected beach with gentle surf and a great spot for beginners to learn.
